Special SE version features: For the SE variant you get upgrades like full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity (via the app), Kawasaki’s Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System (KIPASS), USB-C outlet, large windshield, radiator screen, frame sliders, pillion cover, tank pad, knee pads, LED turn signals. Kawasaki+1

⚠️ Considerations / Trade-offs
Power: At ~51 hp, this is not a high-end superbike; it’s more geared toward entry or mid-level sport riding. Good for someone wanting sport styling with manageable power.
Weight: Curb weight is around ~381.5 lb (50-state model) when fully ready to ride. Total Motorcycle
Fuel capacity is modest — 3.7 gallons means shorter rides between fill-ups compared to larger bikes.
Being special-edition (SE) means it has more premium features (and higher cost) but you’ll want to verify that your dealer has the correct SE package (features matter for resale etc).
Style & ergonomics: Though more relaxed than extreme sport bikes, still sport-bike posture — if you plan long commuting you might want to test comfort.
🎯 My verdict
If I were you, and you’re looking for a new bike that balances sport style + manageable performance + modern features, the 2026 Ninja 500 SE ABS is a very solid option. The SE version gives some nice upgrades beyond simply ABS.
If your priority is maximum power or touring comfort, you might consider stepping up (to something like a Ninja 650 or bigger) but this bike is very well positioned for many uses: city, weekend rides, fun sport oriented but not extreme.
